Baptisms & Confirmation

Every baptism is a celebration. It is a sign of new life in Christ and the rite of membership into God’s Church.

We are pleased to offer both infant and adult baptisms at St Mary’s whether you are marking this step as parents for your children or for anyone of any age who wants to take that step of faith for themselves.

For infants we offer both Baptism (or Christening) for parents who want to take this formal step of commitment and promise on behalf of their little one. But we also offer services of Thanksgiving (or Dedication) that give thanks and pray whilst allowing the child to make a decision about baptism when they are older.

For those who were baptised as infants, we are pleased to encourage Confirmation and Reaffirmation of baptism vows as a celebration of owning or coming to faith for yourself. This would most often be appropriate for those aged over 11 but not exclusively.

If you would be interested and want to find out more, we encourage you to join us at one of our Sunday services and speak to Revd Ben or Revd Sarah.

The Church of England Weddings website is a great place to start and when you’re ready to start planning, please contact us by clicking the button below.

Whilst we do not offer the newly introduced prayers of love and faith for same sex couples, we are glad to warmly invite all to be part of our St Mary’s community and would love to pray with you.

If you are getting married at St Mary’s or are getting married elsewhere but live in the parish of Bearwood you may need to have your Banns read. Please contact us in good time if you think this might be the case.

If you are thinking about getting married at St Mary’s Bearwood, we would love to hear from you.

Weddings

St Mary’s Bearwood is here for you if you have recently lost a loved one.

Funerals

If you have a connection with St Mary’s or if the deceased lives in the parish we would be pleased to host the funeral or memorial service or have one of the team lead the funeral at a crematorium or graveside. The Church of England Funerals website is a great help if you have any questions and in most cases it will be a funeral director who contacts us in the first instance.

Please contact us if you want to get in touch below about organising a funeral.
